(星島日報報道)科學家日前發表報告，估計每年遭捕殺的鯊魚約一億條，鯊魚絕種之勢加劇。這是歷來首次有報告估計鯊魚遭捕殺的具體數字。今日起舉行的「瀕危野生動植物種國際貿易公約」大會，將考慮對五種瀕危的鯊魚設貿易限制。

　　雖然有歐盟和加拿大等國家立法限制捕鯊取翅，但在世界許多國家和地區，捕獵鯊魚以獲取魚翅、魚肉、魚肝油、軟骨及其他魚體部分卻是沒有法例監管的。

1 t0 p- q) Z5 |! K4 ztvboxnow.comI think that criticism is unfair to the Chinese. It is not the Chinese fisherman who discard the the sharks after taking the fins. Most of the Chinese will eat the meat of the sharks and say many Southerne Chinese people will use it to make soup, but many non-Chinese will not eat the shark but they only want the fins (so they can sell to make a profit). So it is not fair to blame the Chinese but if the people want to blame someone, I think they should blame the non-Chinese fisherman who dont eat the sharks but just want the fins.

Actually, if the people want to blame Chinese for this. Why they never blame the western people who like to discard many parts of the animal which they dont eat. Say the western people never eat the internal organs of the pig. But the Chinese eat the liver of the pig, use the lung of pig to make soup, they even eat chicken feet. The Chinese even eat 豬皮, 豬唎, 豬耳, etc. Actually, the Chinese are so environmentally friendly.  So if the people want to blame Chinese for their food habit, they should blame themselves first because they waste much more food than the Chinese (imagine how much pigs, cattles, chickens are killed in the western world, and all the internal organs are discarded) and it is not environmentally friendly to the earth.
