mining, which involves blasting sediment away with high-powered jets of water. Gold was extracted from the gravel, , q8 j' Q; u2 V5 W: s
which was then dumped and carried downstream by rivers into the Sacramento Valley. The Yuba River ended up with + g& ?4 Y% x# z8 n, O6 S, S
