Tom Coronel took victory in the WTCC’s 200th race, after beating fellow BMW man, Mehdi Bennani, to the chequered flag in race two at Suzuka.

Tiago Monteiro managed to cling on to third to complete the final step on the podium, despite his Honda Civic slowing dramatically as he crossed the line, almost allowing team-mate, Gabriele Tarquini through.

The Coronel/Bennani battle was a race-long affair, as both drivers once again took advantage of the BMW’s strong start to lead from the front row.

This is also the Dutchman’s fourth WTCC career victory.

The newly crowned 2013 WTCC champion, Yvan Muller, was knocked off at the start after starting down in the midfield; his RML Chevrolet ending its weekend in the barriers.
