Onekotan is in Russia’s Kuril Islands between Japan and the tip of the Kamchatka Peninsula. The islands were formed by volcanic activity 公仔箱論壇! U2 c& S* \" K+ z3 G
caused by the subduction of the Pacific Plate beneath the Eurasian Plate. Subduction can also generate some of the largest earthquakes + _3 G+ {2 R1 L% C; S% J, Q  _
