   和其他在「門的世界」定居的家庭一樣，Monahan家庭也有復雜的背景－－他們結束在芝加哥的糟糕生活搬到這風光秀美的田園之地，就是想讓一切重新開始。 Nick Monahan（Frank Grillo扮演）最近剛剛接受委任，成為小鎮的新警長，他希望工作能讓自己死水微瀾的生活節奏有所改變。 Nick的妻子Sarah（Marisol Nichols扮演）、兩個孩子Charlie與Dana，也都期望著新生活的開始。儘管房子有些破舊，但Sarah卻很高興－－至少她能暫時忘記丈夫曾經帶給她的傷害和痛苦。可在她的內心深處，她真的忘得掉嗎？ Charlie（Travis Caldwell扮演）和Dana也面臨新的挑戰。除了每個青少年都會經歷的青春期煩惱之外，他們還不得不適應陌生的環境－－新的貴族學校，新的朋友，新的節奏，還有別人異樣的眼光。

   Monahan家庭很快發現，「門的世界」看是風平浪靜，其實暗流湧動。這裡有各種各樣的「小圈子」－－相互利用、貌合神離的朋友，貪得無厭、欲渴難填的家庭主婦，野性難馴、不服管教的青少年……Monahan家庭面臨著未知的命運。
