爱斯基摩人是居住在阿拉斯加、格陵兰和亚洲的人口统称。加拿大和格陵兰的爱斯基摩人自称“因纽特人”，意思是“人”。海洋哺乳动物、鱼类和北美驯鹿是其重要的食物和经济支柱。冬天，爱斯基摩人住在拱形的圆顶小屋，夏天则住在用驯鹿皮做成的帐篷里。他们过着游牧生活，使用狗拉雪橇和用象牙和鱼骨手工制作的传统武器。美国的爱斯基摩人约有6万，加拿大约有3.3万。生活在美国和加拿大的爱斯基摩人都有固定的居住地，他们不再使用狗拉雪橇和传统武器，取而代之的是雪上汽车和火器。  i1 m" {- C; w7 ]7 X
Eskimo is a general term for the population from Alaska to Greenlandand Asia. Eskimos in Canada and Greenland use the name Inuit (inuk =human being). Sea mammals, fish and caribou are important for food andeconomy. Igloos are used as a winter residence, in the summer tents ofcaribou skins provide shelter. The dogsleds are used for the nomadichunting life. Traditional weapons were crafted from ivory and bones.Eskimo population in the United States is about 60,000 and 33,000 inCanada.
