Liverpool won this fixture last season, coincidentally played on exactly the same date, 2-1. After a goalless first half, Dirk Kuyt opened the scoring just ten seconds in to the second period. Peter Crouch added doubled the lead soon after before Hammers sub Kepa Blanco, making his debut, reduced the arrears 13 minutes from time. It was the 100th league meeting between the sides.
Liverpool have won three of the last eight visits, the last three in fact - a feat they last achieved in January 1973.
The Reds are looking to win four league games in a row at Upton Park for the first time in their history.
