The writer has admitted that he intentionally avoid writing similar plot as the earlier series and those like "甄嬛傳". However, apparently most people is hoping to see more of the same, and this new take is like those oscar movie such as "the master" which few people can understand what is going on.

I think most people has expected something different. The writer could have chosen a different approach. such as to continue the plot from the previous series. That could have achieved a much better response. Or change the name of this series to something else so the audience knows this is going to be something very different from the previous series. Anyway, the writer and the producer have already left TVB so this is the end of this series.
