美國華盛頓國際機場Dulles International Airport 傳出，一名來自埃及的男旅客試圖偷渡超過100磅（約45公斤）違禁食物，入境時被5歲檢疫犬貝格爾(Beagle Freddie)發現，沒想到男子竟然當場怒把小狗踹飛，已被帶走接受調查並驅逐出境。
美國海關和邊境保護局宣布，身為檢疫犬的5歲米格魯貝格爾，24日在機場值勤時，於70歲男旅客哈米德(Hamed Ramadan Bayoumy Aly Marie)的行李箱中聞到不尋常味道，當牠向官員報告狀況時，突然遭哈米德用腳攻擊，力氣大到把25磅（約11公斤）重的小狗踹飛在空中。

NEW: An Egyptian man has been deported by DHS after he kicked a CBP working beagle named Freddy at Dulles airport on Tuesday. Freddy had detected prohibited agriculture in the man’s luggage. He was kicked so hard he was lifted off the ground & suffered contusions to his rib area. According to CBP, 70-year-old Hamed Aly Marie pled guilty during an initial appearance in the U.S. District Court, Eastern District of Virginia to harming animals used in law enforcement (18USC1368). He was credited with time served, ordered to pay the veterinarian’s fee, and to immediately report to CBP for removal from the United States. Marie departed the United States on a flight to Egypt at 12:30 p.m. today.
海關官員發現情況後立即將哈米德逮捕，並在他的行李箱中發現多達100磅的違禁食品，內容包含55磅牛肉、44磅的米、15磅茄子、黃瓜、甜椒玉米種子和草藥。
受傷的貝格爾被緊急送去急診，發現牠的右前肋骨區遭到挫傷。哈米德被捕後遭到拘留，25日出庭坦承傷害執法動物的罪名，被勒令支付獸醫醫療費與驅逐出境，已於26日下午搭機遣返回埃及。
美國海關和邊境保護局華盛頓特區主管沃夫(Christine Waugh)發表聲明，「故意走私超過100磅未申報物品被抓，不代表可以暴力攻擊手無寸鐵的海關人員與檢疫犬，我們非常倚賴警犬夥伴，貝格爾只是盡責在做牠的工作」，對於任何惡意攻擊行為絕對不會輕饒。 |
