video file conversion (help)

I have recently bought a new TV and it supports USB flash drives, that is the TV can directly play back music/movies/photos etc. stored on a USB stick.

The only problem is that the movies/video files need to be in .avi format for it to be readable.

A lot of the series that i have downloaded from this forum are in rmvb format. Are there any methods available for converting rmvb files into avi format?

Any help that can be provided will be greatly appreciated~~
download a program called winavi converter.
thanks heaps initiald831...

i'll try it out...

I don't recommend you to convert rmvb back to avi though, cause the rmvb is a lossy data compression format, which means certain data was lost during the compression.
Convert rmvb back to avi won't restore these lost data which means it will affect the resolution of the movie.
So you'd better download avi format movie directly. That certainly will be more clear than the one converted from rmvb playing on the Tv.
Just a piece of advice :-)
Ya,I also suggest that directly download avi format will be more easy then to use the
converter.Mostly the video quality will be better then rmvb.
